Simplicity 1699 Complete...

I'm all done with this one....

I'm not sure I'll do it again.  I love the color (fuchsia).  I also loved the embroidery detail on the linen blend.  I used that piece on the top and a plain (non-embroidered) version for the pants.  I love the pants  in this pattern and will likely use it again.  I will, however, move the zipper from the side to the back.  The pants are a good fit--even thought I tend to wear my slacks a bit loose.

The top is another story....  I love peplum tops and this one is really cute.  However, I'm not sure that a "full-busted" girl should wear a jewel neckline w/embroidery.  It just seems like waaaaaaaay too much fabric happening above the waist to cover "the girls!"  Perhaps it just me, but a few times I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and thought I saw a "bright pink version of the Michelin Man driving an ice cream truck...."  It's just a whole lot of pink moving at one time!  LOL!!!

  4. Hi Mocha,if you feel it is too much pink and too much of it - you could always wear the top with a jacket if you feel it is too expansive across the chest. Also, wear a long necklace. You could also pair if with a pair of white trousers, with the long necklace.

  6. LOL at the Michelin Man comment. But really, it looks great. I think the peplum balances it out. If you want to tone down the pink, maybe wear pieces seperately. Pair them up with navy, khaki, white, etc. and a long statement necklance or something. Your options are endless. I love the pink on you, good color for you!

    1. Thanks Zeva...I am going to try the white slacks idea. That should work well with my floral shoes, too!

  7. I really think your answer is correct. The too much fabric issue is the problem for me, not to even mention that I am far to the right side of a D cup. I've had the issue with this type of top before, I was just hoping that this pattern would work out. Your words are worth much more than two cents, they are correct.

  8. I agree with Sarah and Faye. To break up the pink, you can wear white or play with the jewelry. Every time I looked through the Simplicity book, I stopped at this pattern and passed. I am an F-G and wasn't sure how the cut would look on me in a woven.

    1. LOL (F-G).... Yeah, my jury is still out on whether I'll do it again. But I will work with it and change up the styling a bit based on some of the input the team has recommended... :-)
